Heavy Rock Night at The New Milton Memorial Centre

Friday the 13th February, three local bands Western Sand, Saints of Sin & The Smokin’ Prophets hit the New Milton Memorial Centre as part of a Heavy Rock Night!

The first band to take to the stage were The Smokin’ Prophets. Based mainly in Southampton this band have the aim to bring punk rock ‘n’ roll back to the youth. With an album set to be released in October of this year, Smokin’ Prophets are a band heavily influenced by legends such as Guns ‘n’ Roses and Crashdiet, who can be heard through their original songs as well as covers. This bands live performance is definitely one of a kind ass well as unpredictable. I recommended getting to one of their shows!

The next band to wake up New Milton was the fantastic Saints of Sin, who’ll be celebrating their 2 year anniversary at the Joiners Southampton on the 6th March, before returning back to New Milton on the 14th March to support Kiss Tribute – Dressed to Kill.
One of the most impressive things about this hair metal band is their tightness proving that they are one of the most professional local bands in the South. If you’ve not seen these guys yet, you’re missing out on an incredible live experience. Saints of Sin definitely know how to work an audience and generate audience participation, showing their musical influences of bands such as Def Leppard and White Snake. The passion these five guys have to play music should not be over looked or underestimated. Keep an eye out for them!

Finally, the headlining act Western Sand took the stage. This band have not only been on tour with the Black Star Riders, but have also recently come off tour with the Michael Schenker group, making themselves more and more noticeable for their hard rock talent. Playing songs from their latest album “Cut You Down To Size”, the audience was head banging and rocking out to the max. Western Sand are certainly a band to keep an eye on, as their audience is growing locally and nationally proving that their limits are endless.
Finishing off their rocking one hour set with a good old classic Chuck Berry number Johnny Be Goode, this band proved they are can perform blistering covers as well as fantastic originals.
